Bouquets to Art is an “annual floral fundraiser [that] features a week of blossoms and bouquets inspired by artwork and architecture at the de Young.” I have been fortunate to be invited by a friend. I have participated in their exhibit for the past few years. Isabella of Florabella Studios wanted to incorporate ceramics into her display. Working with the team to create displays for this event has been a pleasure. It has also been so much fun.

Here we go again! We’ve got the Matisse, which comes from a page in the book Jazz.
The pedestal is underway. I’ve started some vase-type forms to be incorporated with the pedestal. I am also working on some tiles that have a more organic form than flat.
At this point, I’ve only three vases to contribute. It was a busy month with travel, a kiln that stopped working, and the end-of-year crunch at school. With just a little breakage in the last-minute firing and now ready to cold finish. I feel like today we put some color on them (there’s a saying about putting lipstick on a pig, no?) and see how the others carry the show.
